After spending 15 years in large corporations, Lucas decided to chart a new course and see what he could do to help the community. His “why” has been to help others find their voice – specifically to help build the entrepreneurial community in York Region; and to develop programs to help teens and pre-teens learn about entrepreneurship. He co-founded the Y2 Entrepreneurship Labs, a non-profit incubator that gives teens and pre-teens opportunities to learn in real-world startup training programs, and to work with entrepreneur mentors. He is also a co-lead of Startup York Region, a community of more than 500 entrepreneurs in York Region. One of his projects was to partner with several libraries in York Region to launch the EIR (Entrepreneurs in Residence) Talks speaker series, active since November 2014.
