Scott MacCannell
Upon graduation from the University of Western Ontario (B.A. Political Science and Economics) in 1976, Mr. MacCannell joined Bell Canada's Marketing Group in Toronto. With the deregulation of the telecommunications industry in Canada in 1980, he left Bell to join Canadian Telecommunications Group (CTG), a young "start up" company as the company's ninth employee. The company grew quickly achieving revenues of C$ 80 Million in five years (having become a public company in 1983) and Mr. MacCannell progressed, during that time, through various positions of management to the position of Vice President and General Manager of the Central Region in 1984.

In May of 1986 Mr. MacCannell left CTG to join Mitel Corporation as Vice President and General Manager of their new Information Systems Division shortly after British Telecom PLC had purchased a controlling interest in Mitel and purchased all of the outstanding shares of CTG. He held that position and served on the Executive Committee of the Canada, Caribbean and Latin American Region until he left Mitel Corporation in 1989 to co-found, with two other partners, Troy Technologies Limited. Since that time Mr. MacCannell has served as both an investor in, and as President of Troy as it has progressed through its various phases of development. Today, Troy, which is located in Vaughan, Ontario continues as a boutique investment organization focused on early to mid stage investments in information technology, healthcare, and energy and environmental conservation.

In terms of other business related education, Mr. MacCannell has participated in The Art of Venturing Program at the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and numerous programs in business valuation, business planning, and negotiation.

Mr. MacCannell is a Director or Advisory Board member of a number of companies including First Med Inc., The Toronto Center for Advanced Reproductive Technology, Telecorp Products Inc., Bluestone Investments Limited, and is past Director of the York Technology Association, CAYRE (Community Alliance for York Region Education) and the Association of Competitive Telecommunications Suppliers.

He is a founding member of York Angel Investors Inc. and serves as a member of the Board of Directors and as President of the organization.
 
Jordan Dolgin
Jordan Dolgin is a Principal of Markham, Ontario based Dolgin Professional Corporation (DPC) (www.dpcLAW.ca). DPC is a dynamic business law firm dedicated to helping entrepreneurs start, finance, grow and sell their businesses. For almost 20 years, Jordan has been assisting clients build better businesses through strong business relationship management. His practice focuses on (1) assisting new business formations and early-stage financings, (2) managing corporate growth, (3) completing M&A transactions and, (4) facilitating corporate divorces.

As a transactions lawyer, Jordan is well known for his responsive, practical, detailed and "get it done" approach. His practice style emphasizes regular client communications, overall availability and project management. He understands the importance of delivering results and approaching client problems with a "...there must be a way to solve this..." mindset. He appreciates that great lawyers need to be innovators and see the "forest" and the "trees" at the same time. Jordan knows that clients want to deal with business-minded professionals not merely legal technicians.

Lastly, Jordan believes in the importance of continuous professional development and is a frequent contributor to several industry publications and participates regularly in professional and client lecture series.
 
Dr. Donald Segal, Ph.D.
Dr. Donald Segal, Ph.D., was executive vice-president of Helix BioPharma Corp. from 1994 - 2004. In March 2004, Dr. Segal became the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. In 2008, Dr. Segal became the Chairman of the Company.

Dr. Segal received his Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada in 1975. Immediately upon graduation he started a company named RIA Incorporated: one of the first medical diagnostic manufacturing companies in Canada. RIA Incorporated pioneered the use of radioimmunoassay for commercial diagnostic purposes. In 1980, Dr. Segal sold RIA Incorporated and formed Joldon Diagnostics Inc. Joldon began to market an ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) system for thyroid antibody detection. Joldon was one of the first companies to employ ELISA successfully in the clinical testing market. In addition, the Company also developed fluorescence-based assay thereby commercializing diagnostic products that no longer required radioactive tracers. In 1994 Joldon Diagnostic amalgamated with Intercon Pharma and Helix Biotech to form Helix BioPharma Corp (Helix). Helix subsequently was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1996 and continues to be a leading biotech company in Canada with extensive collaboration activities with Universities and government institutions.

Dr. Segal has 4 US patents and related world patents and several pending US patent applications. Dr. Segal served on the Biotechnology Panel for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada as one of the representatives from the business sector involved in the research granting system.
 
Ron Smith
As CEO or Chairman of the Board of public companies in the technology industry, Ron led several organizations to successful turnarounds and where appropriate, restructuring and sale of the business. With eighteen years of leadership experience with Vicinity Corporation, Beyond.com, Merisel North America, NCR, Amdahl and Honeywell Information Systems, his specialty was driving increased revenue, profit, and shareholder return.

From 1999 through to 2003, Ron commuted to California, restructuring, and buying and selling technology companies. For the past five years, Ron has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Innovation Synergy Centre, a local organization created by the Town of Markham, the National Research Council of Canada, and others, with the express purpose of accelerating the growth and development of existing small and medium enterprises.

From April through December of 2005, Ron's company, RSS ASSOCIATES LTD, assisted GEOTANGO, a local company, spawned from York University that had recently developed award-winning software for 3D mapping and visualization, in the sale of their business to Microsoft Corporation.

RSS Associates Ltd. is currently engaged in providing mentoring, restructuring, refinancing, and merger and acquisition services to a select number of small and medium enterprises in Ontario.
